Designers Irma Yunaeva and Polina Minakova from the Archilab studio designed the classic interior, based on the principles of asymmetry. It turns out that this is possible

When you cross the threshold of this Moscow apartment, it seems that you are in Italy. This feeling is created even in the hallway, where centenary oak piles, extracted from the Venetian canals, support the glass top of the modern console. The image is continued with wooden panels throughout the wall in the living room and such an unexpected decision as the metal panel of the Italian artist Alex Turco, which was used as the finish for a kitchen apron. All together creates a very relaxed calm atmosphere, and thanks to the color of the walls, the interior seems to dissolve in the haze of morning fog.

Hall. The Venice console, designed by Claudio Bellini for the Riva 1920, is made of tempered glass and a briccole that has served its term - the so-called oak piles from the canals of Venice. All the irregularities on the surface of the tree are natural marks that have arisen over the years of stay in sea water.

“At the request of the client, the apartment is made in shades of gray tones that are close to him and like,” says Polina Minakova. - Everything is built on the nuances of this color - walls, kitchen, doors and window frames. In addition to gray steel, upholstery is wine-colored in the lounge area. Decorative parts are made of brass: radiator grilles, door handles, thin inserts on the doors themselves. But in the bathrooms we allowed ourselves the courage to put a golden bath in the guest room. And the master's room was decorated entirely in dark colors, while using marble not only on the walls, but also on the facades of furniture, which created the effect of a room, as if entirely carved from stone. By the way, a steam generator with a hammam option is installed in the shower room - so your image about fog is quite useful. ”

Part of the kitchen, made by the L’Ottocento factory, is a wine cellar. The sections for storing bottles, books and accessories are intentionally made different - the client does not like strict symmetry.

Canteen. The dining table, Riva 1920, is made of kauri wood, which has been lying in the swamps of New Zealand for thousands of years, was removed from there and carefully used for production. Interestingly, the factory only covers wood with natural oil.

“From the very beginning, the client trusted the decisions of the architect, listened to opinions and advice - this is what made the process of work pleasant and interesting, and the result pleased everyone,” Irma Yunaeva entered into the conversation. - True, there was an alarming moment that everyone had a chance to endure during the repair process. Oak piles, standing for decades in the sea waters of Venice, almost burned down in Moscow. There was a fire on the roof of the building. We all watched the news in tension, while firefighters saved the building for many hours, but destroyed the interiors of the apartments, filling them with water. Fortunately, our apartment suffered less, everything was restored, having spent about a month on this work. "

The apartment is located in a house of the early twentieth century in the very center of Moscow - in many ways the layout was set by thick load-bearing walls that divide the space into two parts. The guest area is, in fact, a living and dining room with a kitchen partially hidden behind wall panels. And a private zone: a bedroom, a bathroom, dressing rooms. “The interior as a whole can be called classic,” continues Polina. “But we filled it with unusual, modern elements, many of which have their own history or are inscribed in the history of world design.” Like, for example, design lamps by Vico Magistretti.

Guest bathroom. The floor sink is made of Alaska Cream marble at the Bevilaqua Marmi factory specifically for this interior according to the drawings of the designers. The walls are faced with the same marble.
